| A weekend with the Master Master Kwok's reputation always precedes him. An intrepid band of students from Weston Wing Chun went to see the man himself.
(Master Kwok practicing with G.M Yip Chun) To actually meet a Martial Arts Icon is an anxiety provoking experience. Will you look stupid, or somehow show yourself up. Will others look at your level or skill in technique and wonder why you were there. As in instructor attending my first seminar under Master Kwok these thoughts were at the forefront of my mind. After a vigorous warm up we were all waiting for the arrival of the man himself. What would he be like, would he look like the pictures would we even recognize him ? He eventually walked in pulled up a chair and started to chat with us. Slowly and formaly at first, but as he warmed to the group, more and more little gems came tumbling out of his mouth. He covered forms, vital areas of the body, structure, Iron palm, breathing, exercise and body conditioning and so much more. It was one of those "oh yea, of course !" days. We all got to try chi sau to apply various principles and Master Kwok wandered round touching hands with everybody, Instructor or Novice it made no difference. All to soon nearly 5 hours had just disappeared. The Instructors seminar was just the same. Plenty of opportunity to touch hands with the man and graphic examples of technique and practice. I came away with an enthusiasm for the subject I can not remember experiencing since I was a child. At the end of the seminar Master Kwok took the time to pose a few photo's with myself and Jim, they are a bit blurred but a wonderful memento to an excellent weekend.
