Empty Handed Escrima

Technique Illustrations

Please note that although these files are black and white, they are quite large so may take some time to download.

The technique illustrated below is just a sample of what a Filipino empty hand technique may look like. It should be executed in about a second or so.

Side step and parry with left hand, inside gunting with right hand to tricep/bicep

Gunting to Bicep/Tricep. Note the triangular footwork to evade the cross.

Right Hand Finger Jab to eyes

Finger jab to eyes. A palm heel strike could be substituted just as easily.

Elbow wrench

Elbow wrench across bicep to destroy the muscle. If the opponents arm was straight then the elbow could be broken instead.

Knee to midsection

By wrenching your arm down the bicep, essentially a Dumog technique the opponent can be bent over for a knee strike to the rib cage. Note the right hand primed for a punch follow up if required
