INTRODUCTION

Brithai is a concept art founded by “Paul Griffin”, in many styles and different arts there are set syllabus training routines which can hinder the development of the individual. When you adapt a technique or add a technique which works for you if that technique is not in your syllabus you are not doing that style or art.

Metaphorically the syllabus are a list of techniques devised by the founder of that art, the techniques worked for the founder but some of these techniques will not work for everyone. The difference in limb size, speed and strength all play a part in the techniques application.

Brithai breaks away from the syllabus by encouraging the use of all practical techniques that work for you. This principle develops a person and his vocabulary of techniques. A basic punch and kick syllabus is used to help with the grading and ensure basic kicking and punching is understood.

A personal development through Brithai will ensure the creation of the best possible fighter in the shortest possible time. Brithai can include any technique and be developed as a self-defence or competitive sport.

Many of the training methods are not just one persons ideas they have been researched and studied and proven to be the most effective to develop certain aspects of ability.

Having no physical boundaries of syllabus, the technical knowledge to develop releases the potential of both instructor and student gives us a new way to deal with reality.
