BLACK BELT SHODAN SYLLABUS
Punches:- Jab, Hook, Cross, Uppercut, Back-fist & Spinning Back-fist. Open Hand:- Knife Hand, Inner Ridges Hand, Palm Strike & Hammer-fist.
Kicks Front Snap, Front Thrust, Side Thrust, Back Kick, Roundhouse Kick, Axe Kick, Crescent Kick, Rear Hook Kick. Jumping & Turning Kicks:- Rear Turning Back, Rear Turning Side, Jumping Front, Jumping Side, Switch Kick. Sweeps & Throws:- Popping Drawing Ankle, Front Sweep, Side Sweep, Body Drop, Sweeping Hip, One Arm Shoulder Throw. Demonstrations of :- Defensive Guard with Bobbing & Weaving. Scenario Based Escapes from headlock, 3 onto one, strangulation, edged weapon defence, club defence, 6 common assaults, Self Defence, control and restraint techniques. LIGHT CONTINUOUS CONTESTS:- Between 1 and 10 depending on grade.
Irrelevant of the grade of any student they all take the same full black belt grading. The first belt is given for trying, the only failure is if they cause disruption or misconduct. After the first grade they must better their previous score/percentage by 8% over all then they can progress to the next belt. Even if they get a far higher percentage they can not jump belts since the belts are time served.
